In this series, I talk about my experiences studying veterinary science at the University of Sydney. I hope to share with you what vet school is really like!
You may be wondering what vet students actually learn in their subjects?
What do they teach us in their lectures?
Today, I will focus on the two first-year units I studied last year which were the most relevant to the areas of animals, agriculture, and veterinary science. These were ‘Animals and Us’ in Semester 1 and ‘Concepts of Animal Management’ in Semester 2.
Remember, you don’t have to know all about these topics before entering the course. You will be taught everything when you arrive at university! It’s exciting learning something new every day!

Looks like a lot for 13 weeks, doesn’t it?
Other units throughout the first year were ‘Chemistry’, ‘Life and Evolution’, ‘From Molecules to Ecosystems’, ‘Statistics’, and ‘Economic Environment of Agriculture’.
