365 quotes!

What can I do now to make up for what I didn’t do before?

It’s so easy for us to procrastinate or let the hours fly by as we distract ourselves on our phones. That precious time could have been spent taking one more FORWARD step towards your goals. By wasting time, you are letting yourself take backward steps and it renders you further and further away from the finish line!

This quote is something we should ask ourselves before launching into an activity that snatches away priceless minutes you’ll never be able to bring back.

Think about the forward steps you could have taken but forfeited.

Think about how you can make up for the backward steps you took before by making the most of the free 15 minutes of OPPORTUNITY you have now!

“If this was the last day of your life, is this how you would like to spend it mentally?” – Jay Shetty motivational video
Have the right mentality as if it were your last 24 hours!

One day, I was watching this motivational video from Jay Shetty, and I heard him say this line: “If this was the last day of your life, is this how you would like to spend it mentally?”

It made me think. One day, it’s going to be your last 24 hours on this Earth. And when you go to bed that night, all the interactions you had with people would be their lasting impression of you. Did you treat them well? Would you want them to remember you that way?

It’s always sad going to bed after being in a bad mood all day, and imagining that if you didn’t wake up tomorrow, the last thing you did was be grumpy at someone or have an argument for no reason.

That’s why it’s so important to go to bed knowing that you spent the day with the right mentality.

When you drift off to sleep tonight, ask yourself the question that if tomorrow never came, would you be happy with the last thing you said to people?
Would you be happy with the attitude and mentality you bore that day?
Would you be happy with the lasting impression you would leave of yourself?

Give everything you’ve got to give until the very last minute!

I remember writing this line in my diary a few years ago. It was after I had watched an international soccer game on TV when the Australians were competing.

I remember feeling so in awe of how the players fought right up until the last minute. Even in the final seconds, they were still determined to score a goal. They did not stop fighting until the time was up. They did not slow down and not for one second did they show any sign of giving up.

I think we should live with this attitude every day. To keep sprinting all the way to the finish line and never slow down until we’ve reached our goals!

Know your roots! Never forget who you are and who you rep!

Once, I was watching a video from my favourite motivational speaker, Eric Thomas, and he emphasised the importance of remembering who you represent.

Remember, that whatever you do and wherever you go, you are representing someone or something.

Imagine yourself as the official representative of who/what you are standing for; whether it be your family, your ancestors, your school, sporting team, club, or even your own values and beliefs.

For example, when you go to training or to school, imagine that you are representing your relatives who support you. They are counting on you to represent them well! Imagine your family being there in the venue, watching their official representative from the sidelines. They are watching their representative (you!), hoping that you’ll rep them well. Would they want your actions and attitudes to represent them?

Never forget who you are and who you rep!

Fortune favours the bold!

I first read this quote in the amazing book, “Wonder” by R. J. Palacio. Then recently, I heard it mentioned in this trailer for the movie “Bohemian Rhapsody” (2018) – a celebration of Freddie Mercury and Queen!

The quote means that it’s better to take the chances than to not even try at all. We must step out of our comfort zones from time to time and stop settling for average. Take the leap because no matter what happens, you will grow as a result of it.

It’s like that saying, ‘You miss 100% of the chances you don’t take’.
So be daring, be brave, and be bold!

“Smile, love and be kind” – Emmy Coates

The inspiring story of Emmy Coates deserves to be heard by everyone. She was an amazing woman who remained so positive and strong despite battling medullary thyroid cancer.

I was incredibly inspired by her kindness and optimistic outlook on life and was touched by the story of how she and her husband rode 2000km on a tandem bike from London to Copenhagen to raise money for The Royal Marsden Hospital.

I first discovered Emmy and Jake Coates’ incredible story in 2017 and am still empowered by Emmy’s message to “Smile, love and be kind”. We should all remember this motto and continue her legacy.

It’s not failure if you learn from it! You either win or you learn!

The message behind Young and Unheroic! You can never fail if you learn from your mistakes and grow stronger from every downfall, adversity, trial, and tribulation.

If you’re learning then you’re moving forward and that’s what’s most important. You can grow from your mistakes and learn to embrace the trials!

Everything happens for a reason and all the downs and ups in your life so far have shaped you into the person you are today. Remember, it’s not a matter of winning or losing. You either win or you learn!
